Did you know that most shows Netflix creates in-house come pre-loaded with audio in other languages? 

Me neither. Not to mention a whole bunch of other shows. Until I went exploring one day and discovered a whole wealth of language gold hidden right there, in my Netflix account.

So then I started to click around. I wonder if this is in French? What about this? What about this?

Watching movies in your target language is a great way to supplement your language learning. It helps you master the first stage of learning a language by ear: your capacity to hear and understand the sounds being made. 

Plus, you don’t have to feel guilty about spending time on the couch watching TV!

Top 10 Reasons People Learn Languages

If you’re a regular to our blog, you know we love languages. And we’re not alone.

More than half of high school students in Europe study two or more languages.

Statistics on world figures are a little hazier, but it’s estimated that 43% of the world’s population are bilingual, 13% are trilingual, a narrow 3% are multilingual (four languages) and a tiny slither (1%) are classed as Polyglots (five or more languages.)

Why Learn A Second Language When Everyone Speaks English?

“Why should I bother learning a second language when everyone already speaks English?”

We get this question all the time.

And while it’s true that over 330 million people speak English as their first language, this is actually relatively small when compared with the 982 million native Chinese speakers.

However, once you’ve factored in the 1.5 billion people that speak English as a second language… it’s easy to see where the question comes from.
